ABOUT AARS

The Alabama Association of Rescue Squads (AARS) was incorporated under the statutes of the State of Alabama as a non-profit organization on April 29, 1967 in Covington County. Today the association is made up of 111 rescue units with over 3,000 members located throughout the state. Being a member of the association in no way affects the governing body or operation of the local squad. Each AARS member functions under it own By-Laws and operational procedures other than when on a joint or multi-unit operation. Membership is open to any organized Rescue Squad that meets the equipment, organizational and membership requirements of the AARS.

TRAINING

On Jan 13, 2024, our first AARS training program class event will take place. We will be conducting some training events, in each of the three training sections of the state. The northern area will be at Athens Limestone Rescue, the central area class will be at Childersburg Rg sections. All squads are reminded that by Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and FEMA we are all required to have completed the NIMS classes, 100, 200, 700 and 800 ! please, have all your personnel get these completed on line at, FEMA.gov . All squads are requested to step up and host a training event to help this program with its success.
